Celebrate Christmas this year in Hastings. There’s plenty to see and do with Saturday all-day shopping, free gift wrapping and Christmas lights at night!
All stores will be open all day each Saturday leading up to Christmas to get your shopping done in time for the big day. There will be entertainment and deals galore to make your shopping experience just that little bit more special during Christmas.
Free wrapping of Christmas presents with recyclable material will be set up around Hastings CBD between 10am and 2pm on Saturday December 10th,17th and 24th. Free car parking will also be available on the 17th in the carpark behind the Westpac and BNZ banks. The gift wrapping is sponsored by Hastings District Council’s Sus’d program which aims to encourages people to save money and the environment.
When darkness falls each night, see the stunning Christmas trees light up on the water fountain in the CBD of Hastings.
A fairyland of 500,000 sparkling lights will envelope the walkways of the Hawke’s Bay A&P Showgrounds starting on Saturday 17 December and going every night until Saturday 7 January. You’ll see diving penguins, jumping fish, spurting whales and a host of colourful sea creatures amidst thousands of dancing fairy lights animated to music.
Santa is making a special trip this year to Christmas in Cornwall Park on Sunday the 18th of December. He’ll make his appearance at 5pm, but bring the kids and the rest of the family from 3pm for an afternoon of entertainment and fun. Later on that evening, our annual Christmas Carols will begin from 7pm where the Hastings Citizens Band will play all your favourite tunes.
