Habitat for Humanity builds homes for families in need. In May this year 150 volunteers helped complete a Napier home in just 10 days. To help raise funds for the next build, Habitat's 2ndhand "ReStore" needs donations of good quality household items. Furniture, appliances, clothing, linen, china and glass, collectables, toys, books, tools – We have room for good quality house-lots. If collection is required, phone the Restore on 8749055.

In addition to the collection of goods, on the 18th of September schools and families will be involved with constructing creations from recycled materials. The artworks can be anything at all, perhaps a scarecrow or garden sculpture – a lot of fun will be had at the front of the 2nd hand ReStore. The entries will be judged by the Mayor of Hastings at 2pm and prizes will be won. A BBQ gourmet will have some delicious food available. Bring some donations for the store and join in the fun.

For more than 20 years, The Chaps have entertained audiences with their unique mixture of music and humour. The music has its roots in folk and bluegrass, but is flavoured with calypso and swing: they've labelled it "Cowboy Lounge".

Tight, four-part harmonies (occasionally sung in Maori or Japanese) are supported by skilful playing on guitar, fiddle, mandolin and double bass. Sometimes they add a banjo, resonator guitar, tin whistle – or castanets.
