A favourite amongst locals, there’s no better place to experience the Hastings District than from the top of Te Mata Peak.
With its breathtaking views, hidden walkways and mountain bike tracks, it’s rated the number one attraction when visitors come to Hastings.
Set on 98 hectares and rising almost 400 metres above sea level, the park features a road and car park atop the hill for easy access and where sometimes paragliders and abseilers take off. At the bottom of the peak, park your car and set about the journey through the 100 year old Redwood Forest and past local flora and fauna.
How to get there? Situated in Havelock North, the best way to get to the Peak is to drive up Te Mata Road and follow the signs.
