Hastings - Heart of Hawke's Bay

The Hastings District is situated on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand.

The biggest draw card is the amazing wine and food trail. There are over 75 wineries in the surrounding area, including New Zealand’s oldest winery restaurant Vidal Estate

Our boutique food industries are very popular and you will find delicious fresh fruit and vegetables, cheeses, fine meats, and locally produced delicacies. You can see many of them at the Hawkes Bay Farmers’ Market (New Zealand’s oldest and largest weekly farmer’s market).

We have an abundance of outdoor leisure activities, with beaches, river, mountain biking, tramping, and golf, being very popular. In summer, we have many large scale events including the Spring Racing Carnival, The Blossom Parade, the Hawke’s Bay Food and Wine Festival and various other winery concerts and events.

Hastings is the largest city in Hawke’s Bay with an urban population of 65,000 which swells to 75,000 when the large rural area is included.
