Held at Hawke’s Bay Racecourse in Hastings, the Festival includes olive oil tastings, olive appreciation workshops, cooking demonstrations by top local chefs, olive grower stalls, as well as plenty of great food, wine and entertainment.
Cooking workshops, where you can learn to easily use olive oil in your daily cooking, are the cornerstone of the Festival. Chefs will demonstrate great ways to use olive oil and you’ll be able to taste the difference in everyday dishes. You’ll possibly change the way you cook forever!
Dame Alison Holst and her son Simon Holst have been confirmed as this years’ celebrity chefs.
Best selling author, columnist, television and radio host Alison has just been made Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to the food industry, nearly 50 years after she first beamed into New Zealanders’ homes as presenter for television show Here’s How.
Simon Holst has co-authored 26 cookbooks with his mother Alison and written six books of his own.
With ample olive oil and olive products, food and wine, entertainment and of course cooking demonstrations by Simon and Dame Alison, you’re likely to leave the New Zealand Olive Festival not just satiated, but inspired!
